Dated 1918, this rifle would have a story or two to tell! Made by Enfield in the last year of WWI, it was likely issued to Australian forces and came back here with them. It was refurbished in Lithgow, and wears a number of Australian-made parts. It was finally refurbished at Lithgow after WWII before being stored. Various stamps attest to its long service and factory history. After sale to the civilian market, it has survived very well and remains intact, with all numbers matching, including nose cap. It's in excellent condition for a 303 of its age, too, and the bore is among the best we've seen. Definitely a collectible SMLE, especially with its extensive Australian history, but you'd also be quite happy to use this one in military rifle competition. More pics on our website.
