At the end of the Winter War, Finland began to rebuild their armed forces. This included the refurbishment of Mosin rifles and production of the M39. The Finnish fought the Soviets to a stand still in not one, but two wars, ironically with Finnish Modified Soviet rifles.
By the end of World War II, over 96,800 M39 rifles were produced.
