A super nice 8 3/8” long barrel model that is a stunner, having barely ever been used, which presents as new. Note the custom laminate timber grips in the photo.
This model doesn’t have the frame lock and is referred to as “pre-lock” and has the firing pin on the hammer where it should be; there for does NOT have the transfer bar used on all models from dash 5 through to what is made today - which allows for a better quality trigger.
The S&W 586 and 686 are almost exclusively the first choice in revolvers for competition shooters, and are recommended by knowledgeable gunsmiths over other brands. The dash 3 and dash 4 models are considered to be the best models (586 & 686) ever produced. The dash 4 frame is already drilled and tapped to accept a scope mount as standard from the factory. These were hand finished, they don’t make them like this any more.
This revolver came out of a collection and has seen very little use, and is sure to impress.
For close to around what you will pay for a plain Jane run of the mill 686, you can own this glamour; which is highly collectible and is a better gun than what you can buy new off the shelf.
The long barrel version has not been available new for over twenty years. $1550
