Here is a very nice condition 686-3 4inch barrel version, which is ideal for service.
This model doesn’t have the frame lock and is referred to as “pre-lock” and has the firing pin on the hammer where it should be; there for does NOT have the transfer bar used on all models from dash 5 through to what is made today - which allows for a better quality trigger.
The S&W 586 and 686 are almost exclusively the first choice in revolvers for competition shooters, and are recommended by knowledgeable gunsmiths over other brands.
The dash 3 and dash 4 models are considered to be the best models (586 & 686) ever produced. These were hand finished, they don’t make them like this any more. $950
