No4 Mk2 Irish Contract 303. In the years after the Second World War, the British produced the No.4 Mk2 rifle, a refined and improved No.4 rifle with the trigger hung forward from the butt collar and not from the trigger guard, beech wood stocks (with the original reinforcing strap and centre piece of wood in the rear of the forestock on the No.4 Mk I/Mk I* being removed in favour of a tie screw and nut) and brass buttplates.
These Irish Contract Rifles were the last of the Lee Enfield British Rifles Manufactured, and as such they are highly collectable, as well as great for service rifle shooting.
This rifle is not unfired, and gauges as 0.325, with good head space.
The wood is unmarked and the metal has the usual marks from use.
Unfired specimens sell for more that $3000, making this rifle excellent value.
