Great condition Mauser K98. This rifle was manufactured at Mauser´s Borsigwalde arsenal in 1939. The rifle is fitted with a most likely replacement laminated stock suggestive of the late war period. The rifle bears a metalwork finish that is not consistent with the early polished blued finish. The rifle also bears black paint on parts of the metalwork, as used by Polish, Czech and Romanian arsenals.
The rifle is in excellent condition with all matching numbers on the action, barrel and some small parts. The rifle has an import mark on the LHS of the receiver. The rifle retains 60% of its original blued metal finish (in addition to arsenal paint). The bore is in 90% condition. The bolt is in very good condition and the bolt face is clean showing no evidence of the use of corrosive ammunition.
This rifle is a legitimate wartime manufactured K98k. The rifle appears to have been refurbished in Germany noting waffenamt technical acceptance marks. The rifle then appears to have become a Russian capture rifle and has been further refurbished at that point. The Nazi marks on the rifle are intact. The rifle has been glass bedded, the trigger tuned, recrowned and ready for competition. $1100 or nearest offer.
