Here is a lovely example of an original high quality pre-Remington JM (John Marlin) stamped rifle chambered in 45-70, which is in very good condition, and has barely been used firing only 110 rounds. A rare find.
The 26in octagonal barrel tames the recoil to a comfortable level unlike shooting the non Cowboy versions which can be brutal; and has Ballard rifling for optimal shooting of cast lead bullets. The standard 1895 versions have microgroove rifling better suited to jacketed projectiles.
The 26in barrel increases velocity, reduces muzzle blast, and allows the use of the extra long magazine tube that holds 9 rounds instead of either 4 or six rounds in the non Cowboy versions. The fitment of the long range Lyman tang rear sight combined with the 26 in barrel provides a long 33 ¬Ω' inch sight radius.
This rifle was made in 2008 from a by-gone era when Marlin rifles had a reputation for quality and reliability, and continue to be the first choice of most people for either Western Action Shooting or hunting. Since Remington bought out Marlin they have destroyed the Marlin name forever by producing very poor quality rifles that have earned a terrible reputation. If you are buying a Marlin don't risk buying a lemon and always make sure it is a genuine JM model.
A pre-Remington JM Marlin 1895 Cowboy doesn't come up very often, let alone one in this condition.
I have extra photos available if interested. Your rifle will be packed extra well in bubble wrap and securely double boxed. Price includes registered post shipping Australia wide to your nominated dealer.
