There were just on 5,000 of these made and 95% of them were shipped into the European market, with Germany receiving the majority of them. \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThese were all made with the unfluted cylinder, timber grips and replaceable front sight blade instead of the usual red ramp (note the retaining pin in the photo). Only a very small handful of these transitioned to the Hogue rubber grip which was right at the very end of this short production run.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThis model doesn’t have the frame lock and is referred to as “pre-lock” and has the firing pin on the hammer where it should be; there for does not have the transfer bar used on all models from dash 5 through to what is made today - which allows for a better quality trigger.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe S\u0026amp;W 586 and 686 are almost exclusively the first choice in revolvers for competition shooters, and are recommended by knowledgeable gunsmiths over other brands. \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThe dash 3 and dash 4 models are considered to be the best models (586 \u0026amp; 686) ever produced. These were hand finished, they don’t make them like this any more.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nThis revolver came out of a collection and has seen very little use.
